📝 Ingredients

  • 1 very ripe banana, sliced and frozen (120 g)
  • 150 ml black coffee, cooled
  • 200 ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 30 g chocolate whey protein (1 scoop)
  • 30 g rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter (15 g)
  • 1 pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 3 ice cubes

🍴 Utensils

  • Blender
  • Knife
  • Freezer bag
  • Measuring jug
  • Tall glass or drinks bottle

📖 Steps

  1. The night before, peel the banana, cut it into 1 cm slices and put them in the freezer in a freezer bag, laid flat so they don't stick together. The frozen banana is what gives the thick, icy texture.
  2. Make the coffee the day before as well and let it cool in the fridge in a sealed container. Don't use hot coffee: it would melt the banana and ice cubes, leaving the smoothie lukewarm and watery.
  3. In the morning, pour the liquids into the blender first: the cold coffee, then the milk. Next add the oats, whey, peanut butter and cinnamon. Having the liquids at the bottom stops the powder from sticking to the sides.
  4. Add the frozen banana slices and ice cubes last. Blend for 1 minute on full power until perfectly smooth, with no bits of oats or ice left.
  5. Taste and adjust the texture: if it's too thick, add a splash of cold water and blend for another 10 seconds; if it's not cold enough, add 1 or 2 ice cubes. The ripe banana is sweet enough, so there's no need to add sugar.
  6. Pour into a tall glass or bottle and drink within 30 minutes: after that, the oats swell and the smoothie gets too thick. If you're taking it with you, give the bottle a good shake before drinking.
💡 FitBot tip: No frozen banana? Use a fresh banana and 5 ice cubes. For an even higher-protein version, replace 100 ml of the milk with 100 g plain skyr.
