📝 Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana (frozen = thicker, fresher texture)
- 80 g frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 100 g Greek yogurt or skyr
- 40–50 ml plant milk (oat, almond) — just to help the blender
- 1 tbsp almond butter or protein powder (optional)
- Toppings: 2 tbsp granola, 1 tbsp desiccated coconut, a few fresh raspberries, banana slices, chia seeds
🍴 Utensils
- Powerful blender (essential)
- Wide, shallow bowl
- Spoon
📖 Steps
- Take the fruit out of the freezer 3 min beforehand — just so the blender doesn't overheat. The base must stay ultra thick.
- In the blender: frozen banana, berries, yogurt, milk and almond butter if using. Pulse first to break up the fruit, then blend continuously until thick and smooth.
- The ideal consistency: thicker than a drinking smoothie, almost like softened ice cream. If too runny, add a little yogurt or more frozen fruit. If too thick, a splash of milk.
- Pour into the bowl, tilting it slightly to create a smooth, gently domed surface — this gives you room for the toppings.
- Work quickly: the base melts fast. Arrange the toppings in rows or colourful sections (granola on one side, fresh fruit in the centre, coconut around the edge).
- Sprinkle the chia seeds on last.
- Eat straight away with a spoon — the contrast between the cold base and the room-temperature toppings is part of the experience.
💡 FitBot tip: The key to a great smoothie bowl: use FROZEN fruit and as little liquid as possible. A runny smoothie can't hold the toppings. If your blender isn't very powerful, let the fruit thaw for 5 extra min.
