📝 Ingredients

  • 2 crunchy apples (about 180 g each)
  • ½ lemon + 200 ml cold water
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter (about 30 g)
  • 30 g granola
  • 10 g unsalted roasted peanuts
  • 10 g dark chocolate chips
  • 1 pinch of ground cinnamon

🍴 Utensils

  • Apple corer
  • Paring knife
  • Chopping board
  • Bowl
  • Teaspoon

📖 Steps

  1. Fill a bowl with 200 ml cold water and the juice of the half lemon. Wash and dry the apples without peeling them: the skin helps the rings keep their shape and adds crunch.
  2. Core the whole apples with an apple corer, pushing it right through. Failing that, cut the rings first, then remove the core from each one with the tip of a paring knife, cutting all the way round the pips.
  3. Lay each apple on its side and cut into rings about 1 cm thick (5 to 6 per apple). Immediately drop the rings into the lemony water for 2 minutes so they don't turn brown.
  4. Drain the rings and carefully pat both sides dry with kitchen paper: on damp apple, the peanut butter slides off and won't stick. Lay them flat on a board or plate.
  5. Roughly chop the peanuts with a knife. If the peanut butter is very firm, microwave it for 10 seconds and stir: it should spread easily without damaging the apple.
  6. Spread each ring with a thin layer of peanut butter using the back of a teaspoon, leaving the centre hole clear, then sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon.
  7. Scatter over the granola, chopped peanuts and chocolate chips, pressing lightly with your fingertips so they stick. Eat straight away with your hands, like little biscuits.
💡 FitBot tip: For a snack box, sandwich the rings together in pairs: well coated in lemon, they last 4 hours without browning. For a higher-protein version, mix the peanut butter with 2 tbsp skyr.
